The Dotted 7-Fold Tie

"Folded seven times, held together by its own weight. An honest edge, rolled by hand, left visible on purpose."

| SEVEN FOLDS, NO SHORTCUTS|
The story starts in Italy, early last century, with the cravattai, the tie-makers, working mostly out of Naples. Their idea was simple. Instead of sewing an interlining inside to give the tie its shape, let the silk itself do the work. It takes more silk, more time, and you can tell.
The technique fell out of favor once ties turned into a mass-produced commodity in the mid-20th century, easier and cheaper to make with a wool interlining sewn inside. It found its way back decades later, revived by houses that still valued what the extra silk and the extra hours were actually for. This is our version of that same return.

| THE DETAILS EXPLAINED |
HAND-ROLLED, ON PURPOSE, Ours runs a little heavier than most untipped ties, which makes the hand-rolled tip even more visible than usual, made with intention. To an untrained eye, it can look almost unfinished. For us, it's the detail that celebrates the craftsmanship behind it. You get exactly what you're looking at, an honest edge, rolled by hand, left visible on purpose. We've come to think of it as the tie's signature.

"To an untrained eye, it can look almost unfinished. "

UNTIPPED, UNLINED, This one is untipped and unlined, made the way the earliest seven-folds were. Instead of sewing in a strip of wool or synthetic interlining, the choice most mass-made ties make, the silk gets folded seven times over itself, and the folds alone carry the weight a lining would normally handle. Being untipped leaves that raw edge exposed, which is why it gets finished by hand rather than covered over. A tipped tie hides the seam and the construction underneath a layer of fabric. Ours doesn't. Same as our suits, we care about the unlined, the exposed construction, the part most brands choose to cover up rather than show.
